Israel-Hezbollah Tensions: Airstrikes and Retaliation

Bloody Clashes Erupt in the Middle East

Israel has carried out an airstrike on the Beirut area of Lebanon, killing a senior Hezbollah leader and close adviser to the group's chief.

Hezbollah retaliated on Tuesday with a rocket attack on the Golan Heights, prompting the Israeli military to retaliate with airstrikes on targets in southern Lebanon.

The tit-for-tat attacks have raised fears of an all-out war between the two sides.

Israeli Airstrike Kills Hezbollah Leader

The Israeli military claimed responsibility for the airstrike that killed Fuad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah leader and close adviser to the group's chief.

Israeli officials said that Shukr was responsible for planning and executing a number of terror attacks against Israel, including the recent rocket attack on Majdal Shams.

The airstrike took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and Shukr was killed instantly.

Hezbollah Retaliates with Rocket Attack

Hezbollah retaliated to the Israeli airstrike with a rocket attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

The rocket attack was claimed by Hezbollah's military wing, and the group said that it was in retaliation for the Israeli strike that killed Shukr.

The Israeli military responded to the Hezbollah rocket attack with airstrikes on targets in southern Lebanon.

UN Urges Calm After Israeli and Hezbollah Trade Strikes

The United Nations has urged calm after the exchange of airstrikes between Israel and Hezbollah.

UN Secretary General António Guterres said that he was deeply concerned about the escalation of violence and called on both sides to exercise restraint.

The UN has also called for an independent investigation into the airstrikes that killed Shukr and the woman in Beirut.

Israel-Hezbollah Tensions Rise

The airstrikes and retaliation have raised fears of an all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah.

Both sides have been building up their forces along the border, and the situation is extremely tense.

The international community is urging calm and restraint, but it is unclear if both sides will be able to avoid further escalation.
