Passengers Recount "Absolute Terror" as Plane Tumbles

A British man has died and dozens of people have been injured after a Singapore Airlines flight encountered severe turbulence over Myanmar on May 21, 2024. The aviation tracking site FlightRadar24 says that according to their data, the turbulence occurred over Myanmar airspace.

The Singapore-bound Boeing 777-300ER diverted to Bangkok after the mid-air incident, making an emergency landing at 08:45 GMT. Passengers on board have described scenes of "absolute terror" as the plane violently shook, launching people and objects across the cabin.

The deceased passenger was a 73-year-old man from Britain. The cause of death has not yet been released, but it is believed that he suffered a fatal head injury during the turbulence. Several other passengers were also taken to hospital with injuries, including broken bones and head wounds.

The Singapore Airlines flight was carrying 346 passengers and 19 crew members at the time of the incident. The airline has expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased passenger and has launched an investigation into the incident.
